The deep cobalt blue of these Twin Lakes is a sharp contrast to the red fall succulent flowers that cover the steep cliffs surrounding them in this North Cascade Mountain alpine lake photography print. I took this Twin Lakes photograph along the trail to Winchester Lookout on autumn day that couldn't decide if it wanted to be cloudy or clear. The mountain peaks danced in and out of the clouds and the blue sky opened up just long enough for me to capture this moment as a fine art lake photography metal print.
 
Like most alpine lakes in the North Cascades Mountains range, Twin Lakes are only accessible for a few months of the year, and the road leading to them is steep and treacherous. But the payoff makes the journey worth it and the experience of standing looking out at the mountain tops and down at the lakes below is a powerful and spiritually expansive one.
