Washington state is one of the northernmost of the lower 48 United States, which means our days are very short in winter and very long in summer. It makes for some extremely early morning sunrise mountain photography indeed. On this morning in late June I got to Artist Point at 4:30am and got situated with my camera nearly at ground level to capture this sunrise at Mt Shuksan photograph with the mountain reflected in this shallow pool.
 
The sunrise colors shifted from dark purple, to vibrant pink, to this explosion of yellow and gold. In my mind I was thinking how wonderful it was to be there all alone to experience the absolute peace and tranquility of this perfect Pacific Northwest mountain photography moment. Then ironically, seconds after creating this Mt Shuksan photography wall art, a group of 17 people walked out onto the rocks at the left, making tons of noise and spoiling the mountain photography scene. At least I already got my shot!
