Deep Purple Dusk at Mount Shuksan
The final light of alpenglow and twilight shimmers off Mt Shuksan and across Highwood Lake on the last evening before the ice closed in and the snow covered it.
Fine Art Mount Shuksan Photography that Inspires the Soul
With Pacific Northwest mountain photography, timing is everything. Generally speaking, I try to time my Mount Shuksan photography art trips around the blooming of wildflowers or the changing of fall color, but for this Mt Shuksan art print, I tried something different. I did an overnight trip in my camper in late October, when snow had already fallen but the lakes hadn’t been covered by snow yet. Picture Lake was already frozen solid, but Highwood Lake in this Mount Shuksan photography print was being kept open by the activity of a few ducks who were getting their last meals here before flying south.
The day was mostly overcast, and the sunset was unremarkable, so it was only in the very last light of dusk that I was able to create exciting fine art Mount Shuksan photography art. I took this vibrant magenta and purple Mt Shuksan art print with a 30 second exposure and my ISO turned up to 250 to take in as much of the fading light as possible. Seen with the human eye, this Pacific Northwest mountain scene was much darker, but the magic of doing long exposure mountain photography art is that I can bring out ambient light and color and create the kind of wild splendor in this epic purple Mt Shuksan photography print. By morning the lake had frozen and was covered in a blanket of snow.
