Diablo Lake Photography - From Sunrise to Sunset
You can’t drive through the North Cascades National Park without taking a picture of Diablo Lake. At least I can’t. Unlike most of the National Parks photography opportunities are a little more rare in the North Cascades because there aren’t as many designated stopping points and overlooks. Access to the park is only available from trailheads along the one highway that runs through it. So the two overlooks: Washington Pass Overlook and Diablo Lake Overlook pictured here, are important and iconic places for me to create fine art North Cascades National Park photography prints.
On this day in early September, I had been camping in the Colonial Creek Campground at the inlet of the lake, and drove up to the overlook to get this Diablo Lake photography wall art image just about noon, when the sun is in the best position to light up the extraordinary turquoise color of the water in this limited edition fine art photography print. After this, I went back down to the lake and spent the afternoon kayaking to the small island at the far right where I created more Diablo Lake photography art. That is until a storm blew in and I had an exciting paddle out in large waves, thunder, and lightning. Just before reaching shore the storm broke, the sky opened, and I took a few more lake pictures before heading for shore.
