Orca Family In The Butterscotch Sun

In July 2015 my wife and I took a special trip to San Juan Island to celebrate our marriage and to spend time with the orca whales. We camped at the San Juan County Park on the west side of the island, which is a great place to create fine art orca whale photography artwork. As with all wildlife photography, it takes a lot of patience, but if you’re lucky you can get wonderful orca pictures right from the shore.
 
The Pacific Northwest is blessed to have two populations of orcas or killer whales: the transient orcas also known as Biggs killer whales, and the Southern Resident orcas. This fine art orca whale photography print features the resident K-Pod, as they cruise down the coast of San Juan Island following schools of Chinook salmon.
