Perfect Calm at Colchuck Lake

A group of us won the permit lottery for four-days camping at Colchuck Lake, only to be met by three days of pounding rain. One by one, my friends canceled, so I backpacked in alone on the third evening as the storm subsided. Before dawn, I climbed to the lakeshore and found the reward for my persistence, Dragontail and Colchuck Peaks perfectly reflected in still water, with fresh snow left by those three days of rain glowing in the first light.
