Hiking in the North Cascade Mountains can be a 360-degree mountain photography art experience, but it can also be very challenging to reach these views due to just how steep these rugged mountains are. That’s why it’s such a delight to hike Sauk Mountain, one of the first mountains as you are heading east toward the national park. There is a wonderful (although bumpy) road that gains most of the elevation for you, so you can start your hike in open alpine meadows and reach the top in just 2 miles of steep but not too strenuous hiking. The opportunities for creating mountain photography art start in the parking lot and continue all the way to the top. 
 
Usually my mountain photography prints of this area are focused on the wildflower meadows that flank Sauk Mountain itself, but on this summer evening, it was the mountains in the distance that captivated my attention and became the subject of this rustic North Cascade mountain wall art.
