PNW Beach Photography that Expands the Horizon
My plans were to be deep in the Hoh rainforest on this October evening, but we changed course last minutes because the fall leaves had not begun to change yet. I was looking for color and boy did I ever find it on the beach! I took this Pacific Northwest beach photograph at the north end of Rialto Beach, and these massive “dogtooth” sea stacks made the perfect silhouette against one of the most spectacular beach sunsets I’ve ever photographed.
The coastal clouds hung in three distinct layers, each catching its own light and changing different colors at different times. Each cloud layer in this incredible sunset wall art also had distinct shapes and textures, and when overlayed, they created a luscious lasagna of pinks, mauves, peaches, yellows, and fiery orange. The massive tower of rock on the right is balanced by the volume of the vast Pacific Ocean on the left, pivoting on the fiery fulcrum of the setting sun in the middle of this epic fine art sunset cloud and beach photography print.
