Golden Reflections On First Beach
After a long hard 5 day backpacking trip on the Olympic Peninsula, we drove up to La Push and walked right out onto the beach, to be treated to this unforgettable sunset. Thank you Mother Nature!
We were supposed to catch the ferry home this night, but because I didn't quite get the amazing fine art beach photo I was hoping for yet, I asked my wife if we could catch the morning ferry so I could try to get one more beach sunset photo. She reluctantly agreed, and was glad she did in the end.
This has become one of my most popular fine art beach photography prints of all time! The magic of the full sunset reflection on the beach, and the perfect placement of the little cotton ball cloud right in the center make this the height of fine art beach photography. I definitely got my feet wet running in and out of the surf that night, but it was a memorable evening.
First Beach is located within the Quileute Indian Reservation and surrounded by the Olympic National Park and Quileute Needles National Wildlife Refuge. It's one of the only drive-up beaches within the Olympic N.P. and it's popular among surfers and visitors from around the world.
