Majestic Mount Baker Wilderness
At dawn I set out to capture the north face of Mount Baker aglow in morning light. I had hiked this trail the day before, but scattered clouds dulled the blue reflection on the lake. Awaking this day to clear blue skies, I did the same 6.5-mile hike again and then waited three hours for the lake to still. At last, a deep blue Iceberg Lake mirrored the trees, framed by crimson huckleberry leaves, the reward for my persistence. I patiently shot and blended 50 separate exposures to yield the remarkable detail of this image.
