I was in Port Townsend waiting for the ferry boat to leave the dock after a nature photography expedition on the Olympic Peninsula. I was fortunate to have an hour’s wait around dusk, which gave me the opportunity to play with nautical wall décor ideas in the diminishing light. The period about a half an hour after the sunset known as the “blue hour” is when the only light left in the sky are the short wavelengths of blue and purple light which bounce around the atmosphere. This created the perfect conditions for capturing this nautical wall art which almost looks like a coastal watercolor print but has the advantage of being a crystal-clear sailboat photograph.
