Shallow Bay Madrona Silhouette

The sun sinks over Sucia Island, painting Shallow Bay in peach and gold. From a high cliff, a lone Madrona leans toward the light, its smooth limbs glowing above boats resting quietly on the tide. I hiked here at day’s end, drawn by the promise of stillness and reflection. In that suspended moment, sea and sky merged in perfect balance, and all boundaries between self and sea vanished.
